Discoid Lupus pertains to the skin. Toni Braxton experiencing pericarditis attributable to Lupus indicates she has the much more serious Systemic Lupus Erythematosis. The pericarditis associated to SLE is potentially dangerous and can cause death. SLE is a horrible and unpredictable disease even with the very best of meds and doctor's care. It's deadly when overlooked. SLE is largely overlooked and undiagnosed, affecting mostly minorities. This disease deserves much more attention and funding.

Thank you for this story I was diagnosed in 2013. and still trying to come to grips with it and deal with all that comes with lupus. I have 3 children and pray that I make it and be there for them. I try to stay positive. I have always been the head of my family with 4 sister and 1 Brother I do holiday dinners. Last year I was in the hospital the day before thanksgiving & Christmas and the day after I pray this year is different. I am still learning my Body and what it is saying.

Thank you for this article about lupus. However, I want to point out that discoid lupus involves the skin; please go to lupus.org & learn more. I have live with SLE for over 30 years. It is such an individual disease & can mimic other illnesses. Raising awareness is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
