Several years ago, I was married and very unhappy with my relationship. I learned my husband was discussing our sexual activities with a coworker of mine who was his friend. I’d suspected that my husband viewed me as an empty-headed sex object, but this time he’d gone too far.

After I confronted him about this betrayal and the disrespect he’d shown me, I told him I was leaving. The next day, I moved out and filed for divorce. I returned to my parents’ home and enrolled in a local college. I’d been thinking about getting a degree in education for a long time, but I’d listened when my husband told me college would be too difficult.

Four years later, I proved him wrong. I graduated from college with honors and later got a job as an elementary school teacher.

Eventually, I met a wonderful, respectful man and got remarried.
